D.C. Hill had this native rock building constructed in 1922 to house "Eldorado Hardware Store".  In 1929 D.C. retired, selling the business to his son Ernest Hill.  In 1951 Ernest bought the rock building and the metal building behind the hardware store.

This old building has been used for many civic meetings.  Hill helped organize Southwest Texas Electric Coop. meeting once with Congressman Lyndon Johnson in this building.

In 1976 Mrs. Ernest Hill donated these two buildings to Schleicher County Historical Society in memory of her late husband.  These buildings were to be used as a county museum.
